Village News

 28TH JUNE 2015

The National Road Championship cycling race is being held in Lincoln on Sunday 28th June.
The race starts at Yarborough leisure centre at 10.0 am and makes its way through down Burton Hill Top, Sturton, Stow, Willingham, Kexby, Upton, Springthorpe, Ingham, Scampton.
Finishing back at the Lincoln GP Circuit.

All villages that the race passes through are taking steps to decorate their village.
They will be judged for the best.

A parish council meeting was held last night to discuss where the best place for bunting etc to be placed.
Bloomers are making several floral decorations including decorated cycles and flower tubs.
The parish council  have agreed to purchase other floral planters which will be placed in various points in the village.
Anyone living on the route who
feels like  decorating their house,an old bike, fence etc would be appreciated.
The more colourful the better and it is being televised, so please come out to cheer and wave at the passing race convoy.

There will be road parking restrictions on the route from 4.0 pm on the Saturday to 6.0 pm Sun, and the road will be closed with a rolling road closure system while the race is on.
Leaflets with the race times have been posted to Upton residents, if you have not received yours and would like to know the exact times please contact me at admin or the Parish Clerk.

For anyone that does not live en route and would like to watch the race, Upton and Kexby Village Hall will be opening up from 9.30 am.  Light refreshments will be available, tea, coffee, bacon butties etc.
There is also a live link of the race streamed through to a large screen where you will be able to watch the whole race from start to finish.
Pupils from Lea school have been busy painting pictures of various cycles and how they envisage how future bikes will look like.   These will be on show in the village hall and will be judged on the day for the best effort.

The Rose and Crown are putting on a hog roast if you fancy something more substantial.

Lets hope we have a lovely sunny day and have lots of support for the cyclists.

where've they gone!
