Village News:  December 22nd  2014


ALL SAINTS’ CHURCH, UPTON


 A first for the Church when the P.C.C. organised a Christmas tree festival in
 the Church.
 Organisations who volunteered to decorate trees were Upton Parish council,
 Kurling Club(S.Rose), Art Group, W.I. Upton Methodist chapel, J. Milne WLDC,> Cricket Club, Friendship Club, , the Church and others.> Horsleys of Gainsborough, Barnes of Upton,Gores,S.Rockall and Rev. L.Milne
 also provided trees. The whole effect was wonderful, with quite a few people visiting the church to see them

 During the weekend, mulled wine and warm drinks were served and a tombola was
 held.
 On the Saturday evening, a performance by Thea Butterworth on the harp,
 This was a beautiful evening with Thea playing seasonal music.
 The P.C.C. wish to thank all who contributed to a successful weekend.


 QUIZ

 Last week was in aid of  L.I.V.E.S. winners were the” Oblong Table”
 £ 111-00 was raised, the next quiz night will be on Jan. 8th, for the
 Methodist kids club.



 CRICKET

 A very successful presentation evening was held, with a lovely meal provided
 by the Rose and Crown.
 The Chairman , Peter Rushton thanked all who had taken part
 last season, and particularly those who had helped win the Millennium Cup, He
 then asked for new players next year in order to keep the club going forward
 again.
 Following this, introducing the President John Thurlby who presented prizes
 to
 eleven members for their achievements, including two of his grandsons.!!>
 SERVICES

 The Church will hold Midnight Mass at 11-30 on Christmas Eve, all will be very
 welcome.
 Sunday 28th. Dec will be Morning Prayer at 9-30.
 There will be No Service at Chapel this Sunday.

 UPTON PARISH COUNCIL
