VILLAGE HALL

The hall committee organised a fashion show on Monday evening.

Lincs Fashions gave an interest display of fashion items they had on offer.

These were displayed very well by three models.

All the fashions were available on the night at very reasonable prices.

UPTON PARISH COUNCIL

The council met in the Methodist Schoolroom on Tuesday evening, when all but one councillors were present, no members of the public and Jessie Milne WLDC.

The Community Action Officer, Kevin Dunn and Ruth attended to give advice of funding of any items bought up at the fun day.

A councillor suggested a meeting be organised to sort out neighbourhood watch in the village.

Another councillor had offered to do planting of flowers and trees in the two villages, suggested he apply to the community fund for money for this project.

The walking group and car scheme is still in abeyance because of waiting for information.

Clerk had written to Highways and police re parking in the village. Neither would do anything about parking on fish and chip nights, but would do something about the parking on the passing place at the letter box.

Chris from highways would come and have a walk round the village at our next meeting to see what required doing.

The litter picking group had been inaction and were to be thanked.

The war memorial was discussed at great length and councillors agreed to go ahead with the original sighting as it would be visible to all passing people.

Clerk to contact the heritage lottery fund for funding. Chair to contact  Kexby Parish Council.

~Speed restriction machines had been looked at but would cost £5,000.00 each. Then another £60.00 for any additional columns

Rubbish on Cow Lane was again reported. Councillor Milne said it cost a fortune to remove rubbish tipped in the area.

A joint newsletter was to be sent out from Upton and Kexby parish councils re the results of the fun day.

Bin on Church Road had disappeared and a new one ordered.

The new street light on Cade Lane was now working and had been paid for.

Letters of thanks had been received from the village hall and playing field for grants and J.Spittlehouse for web site.

The next meeting will be at 6.30p.m. for  a walk round the village. Public at 8p.m.

WOMENS INSTITUTE

An evening of fashions and strawberries was the theme of the W.I. evening on Wednesday.

Members donned their party frocks and enjoyed the strawberries and  cream with Glasses of non alcoholic wine.

Mr Ian Loxley took photographs of all the members for the 2015 calendar.

FRIENDSHIP CLUB

The club held a cream tea on Thursday afternoon, although not well supported by the residents the afternoon made £110.00. With the prizes left over it was decided to have the quiz night for the club and this made £60.00 

The club have arranged a bus trip to Dobies Garden Centre on September 4th, information from Mrs J.Morley, Main Street , Upton .

The next meeting before the summer break will be on July 24th 2p.m. in the Methodist Schoolroom.

QUIZ

Last week was for the Friendship Club,  £66 was raised winners were. The No Hopers & Bernards Gang

This week is in aid of the Air Ambulance.
