Village News: 23 June 2013

CRICKET CLUB
Upton and Kexby cricket club are doing very well in the Wednesday league.
Last Sunday afternoon a match with a difference took place.

The Half Moon at Willingham challenged the members of the Burton hunt to a match.

This took place on a chilly Sunday afternoon.

Both teams and spectators enjoyed the cricket teas at half time when the raffle was drawn. The match resulted in a draw when all cricketers and friends went to the half Moon for more food and 'drink' During the time at the Half Moon an auction was held, Over £500.00 was raised for Macmillan Cancer Care.

WOMENS INSTITUTE.
Although not winning any major prizes the local W.I did very well at the Lincolnshire Show with their entries.
Members entered and achieved a place in the cushion section and the co-operative arrangement, Bottom of the Garden received good remarks and points.

ALL SAINTS CHURCH.
There is no service at All Saints on Sunday 30th June but a Group service at Gate Burton will take place at 6p.m. with a Big Sing, helped by the Trentside Choir.

METHODIST CHAPEL
The service on Sunday 30th June is own arrangements by Chapel members, starting at 10.30a.m.

QUIZ
Last weeks quiz was in aid of the playing field and raised £90.00.
Winners were Just in the Rose and Crown.

This weeks quiz to be decided on the night.
