Village News | 20th January 2013

PTON PARISH COUNCIL MEETING
This was held in the Methodist Schoolroom last week, with all
members
but one attending. Also Councillor Milne
from WLDC attended.

The meeting began with the chair asking for a minutes silence in

memory of Mrs Mary Hall and Mrs Bet Warrington.

Councillors were then shown the award for WLDC parish council of the

year, which is to be put in the Methodist Schoolroom.

Police did not attend, but members were told of a break in at a local

shop.

Highways were to be asked to fill in pot holes in village also to
look

at public footpath number 50 as it has been flooded and a resident
had

fallen because of this. The handyman to be asked to clear and tidy up

the footpath to the bus stop.

Councillors would like to see more interest in the neighbourhood plan

as this would be of benefit to all the village.

It was agreed that no increase in the precept for 13/14 would be
asked

for.

The organiser of the Christmas Market, L.Alsop was thanked for

organising this event, with 9 local organisations  receiving £104.25
each.

The cables and lights at Church, which had gone missing was discussed

and left to another meeting to see if these items were found.

Village Hall asked for donation for safety doors, council felt that
it

could not afford a grant at this time as it  hopes to put in

another street light in a dark spot in the village. Suggested they

approach the community council.

The Stagecoach bus company replied to a letter re picking up children

near Church Road and High Street junction saying the bus couldn't stop
at the bus shelter because of the tight turn out of Padmoor Lane, 
highways had sited this

shelter.

The next meeting will be on March 12th 2013

FRIENDSHIP CLUB.

Bernie Padfield entertained the club members on the Chapel organ on

Thursday afternoon. After he had played some well known songs a party

for a members 80th birthday was held.

On January the club have the High sheriff on Lincolnshire, Mr. John

Burke, who will talk about his role as High Sheriff.

ALL SAINTS This Sunday's service is Morning Prayer starting at 9-30am.

QUIZ Last week's quiz was for Diabetes UK. The winners were Whatever
with £75 being raised. This week's quiz is for Forrest Rangers Junior
Football Club.
