Village News | 9th December 2012

A concert, given by The Trent side Singers was received very well by a large audience. On an extremely cold night the event was held in the village
hall and at the interval wine and mince pies were very welcome.

The concert was entitled 'In the Mood'. first half was a nostalgic performance, with songs from the war time years and from the shows.

The second half was to get all in the mood for Christmas, with some new carols and a few humorous songs.

A very funny sketch was performed about making elder berry wine, the four cast were treading grapes in a tin bath (made by D.Pearson) Julie Barrow, Pat fotheringham, Peter Rushton and granny Audrey Rushton, who was drinking the wine and getting merry. Stuart Barrow assisted the group.

Also giving two performances were a very talented group called the Degrees of Harmony who sang some well known songs.

The evening was organised by the Trentside singers conductor, Mrs J.Fotheringham with Mrs E. Carrot being the accompanist.

The choir members all belong to the Trentside Group of W.I.s, hence the name, they were assisted by the W.I. supporting husbands . the WISH team who song several items.

The club travelled to Brigg garden Centre for their Christmas lunch outing.

After a very good Christmas lunch members and friends enjoyed
shopping in the very festive centre.
