WOMENS INSTITUTE.
President, Mrs J.Anderson welcomed members to the September meeting
and made the following announcements.
The burial ground working party now has some volunteers and £30.00
left over from the fund is to be spent on bulbs.

The Macmillan coffee morning will be held on September 28th in the
village hall and organised by the W.I. This is from 10a.m. to 12noon. A fashion show by Barron Bou will be held on October 24th at 7.30p.m. in the village hall. She then introduced Mrs Jackie Cheetham MBE who gave a wonderful description of receving the MBE. From the beginning, the secrecy, the nomination and then onto the awards ceremony at
Buckingham Palace.
Members even had a parade of the outfit Jackie wore for the
investiture.
Mrs J.Fotheringham gave a vote of thanks and the president presented
Jackie with a bouqet of flowers.

MACMILLAN COFFEE MORNING.
The annual coffee morning will be held in the Village Hall on Friday
September 28th 10a.m. to 12 noon.
Raffle, tombola and cake stalls will be included.

UPTON PARISH COUNCIL
4 members of the public, Councillor J.Milne 6 parish councillors and
police attended the meeting of the parish council on Tuesday evening.
Chair, P.Rushton welcomed all to the meeting and called upon Mr Bates
to give an explanation regarding the Land Network site at Heapham.
The police reported 2 crimes in the village and handed out smartwater
packs.
Concern was raised re a school bus, which picks up children opposite
the Rose and Crown at a dangerous place.
Clerk to write to education re this problem Highways had cleaned drains out on Padmoor Lane, it now floods
further down the road. Clerk to contact highways again. Also regarding the
white line painting on Padmoor/High Street junction
The clerk to write to R.Burgess expressing thanks for the notice
board on the bus shelter.
The neighbourhood plan has been left in obeyance at the moment, but
hopefully will be resurected again in the future, as this would benifit all the community.

The memorial/jubilee seat will be installed during this week.
The next meeting will be on 13th november 7p.m. for public.

HORTICULTURAL SHOW.
The 50th show was a great success, despite the weather entries were
good.
Chair G.Hobart introduced Mrs Doris Jubbs to present the prizes.
Awards and cup winners were P.Hewitt, A.Sharpe, M.Hewitt,N. Prescott, M.Castellucio, E.Candle, D.Farrow, E.Wilkins, J.Wardby/F.Gore .D.Fretwell, A.Rushton, J.Barrow, Doreen Rose, G.Hobart for most points in the show. Mrs P.Chester, Mrs S.Rockall and Mrs J. Spencer were presented with gifts by the chairman for their work in keeping the show and society going.  The childrens section was won by , Ellie May Arnond (queen painting) and Olypic painting by Molly Hewitt.

AUCTION
The playing fields are holding an auction on Friday 28th September at the Rose and Crown starting at 7-30pm.There are many lots so come long and bag a bargain.

ALL SAINTS
This Sunday's service is Morning Prayer starting at 9-30am.

QUIZ
Last week's quiz was for the playing field. The winners were Mazza's Marvels, £105 was raised. This week's quiz is for New Age Kurling any donations of prizes would be appreciated.
