GARDENS OPEN WEEKEND
Despite the bad weather on Saturday the weekend was a success.
Sunday saw a lot of people come to the two villages to admire the lovely gardens.
The village hall was open with several stalls and in the Methodist Schoolroom a quilt and art display was held.
These were very good, all realised what talented people we have in
Upton and Kexby.
The quilts were absolutely magnificent and the artists were mainly from the art group, which meet on Friday mornings in the chapel schoolroom.
Funds were for LIVES and Gainsborough Heritage centre with stalls for Help the Heroes and St. Barnabas hospice.
The people who had helped in any way met on Monday evening to tour
the gardens and have a buffet supper at the Rose and Crown.
The W.I. did very well in the Co-operative section at the Lincolnshire
Show. They gained 91 and a half marks, only half a point behind the third placed Willingham.
Points awarded were Staging 20. Interpretation 19 and half, craft 19
and a half. cookery 17 and a half
flowers 15. The calendar in this competition is very eye catching.
Also entered in the photography class was Mrs Julie Barrow.
The council will meet in the Methodist Schoolroom on July 10th. 7p.m.
for public followed by council meeting.
This Sunday's service is Morning Prayer starting at 9-30am.
Last week's quiz was for the village hall, the winners were Whatever and the Oblong Table. This week's quiz is for the playing field.
