The club held a cream tea in the Rose and Crown restaurant on
The quiz night was also for the club funds when,
althogether £173.00
was raised.
An evening to open the sun room at 17 Main street, Upton will be held
on 12th August at 6.30p.m.
Councillor J.Milne vice chair of WLDC will do the honours of opening
the room. This will be followed by refreshments, which may be
on the purchase of a ticket(£5.00)  For church funds.
The evening will include a raffle for the Genesis Trust Fund.
The evening at the Rose and Crown started with the questionmaster
(P.Rushton,) asking for a minutes silence in respect for Janette
Hutchinson, who had died this week, both Janette and her husband Colin,
who died just three months ago had been involved with the quizzes from
the start and had helped to raise thousand of pounds for both local and
national charities, they will be greatly missed.The quiz was for the
church with The Whatever Team the winners.£135 was raised. This week's
quiz is for the Diamond Jubilee celebrations next year, any donations
of prizes would be most grateful.
CRICKET BBQ This is to take place at the Rose and Crown on August Bank
Holiday 29th August. They will be a junior cricket match in the morning
at the playing field and maybe a senior one, the bbq will start at 2pm,
with three meats, salad and sweet. There will be lots of games, tombola
and a raffle. Tickets are £5 for adults £2-50 for under 12's and free
for under 3's. Tickets are available now from any member of the cricket
club or from the Rose and Crown.
GARDENS OPEN DAY  A meeting to discuss this is to be held on Monday
15th August in the Methodist schoolroom at 7-30pm. Anyone wishing to
open their garden to the public should attend, they will be made most
